It starts with an idea...
It starts with an idea, a concept, a brainstorming session. The idea becomes a design, then a mold and finally a prototype submitted for your approval. These are the first steps to providing you with the highest quality thermoformed blisters, clamshells, bifolds, and trays. They are also the first steps in developing a long-term relationship.
At Algus our thermoforming process defines “Customer Intimacy”. From your first contact with your project leader, Algus will work to ensure your package meets all your needs: product fit, appearance, functionality and shelf appeal.
Using the latest design and programming software, our engineers can create packages for almost any application. From a basic rectangle face seal blister to complex three-dimensional bifolds, Algus will deliver excellence. We can duplicate or modify an existing package; or develop a new product based on your requirements.
Our in-house machine shop will make your thermoform tooling from high-grade aluminum. This process is done on state-of-the-art CNC milling machines, then the tooling materials are hand polished for the greatest clarity.

We design and build our own thermoforming machines to ensure we could handle runs of any size with precision and efficiency. Capable of vacuum and pressure forming, our thermoforming process maximizes material usage and cycle speed, which lowers the cost to you. We also offer matched metal capabilities and low-cost cut and cleared hang holes.

Blisters
Face Seal, Trapped Blister
Retail Blister Packaging is a packaging technique which involves the heat seal of a rigid, thermoformed outer shell which houses a product, to a coated back card. A method commonly used for retail items.
Single blister sealed backer card coated with a heat & pressure activated sealant.
Front and back card sealed together “Trapping” a blister in between so the flange is not visible. Front card has cutout shape of blister cavity. Used for strength, recycle-ability (if blister not sealed to either card) and prefabricated POP displays.
Clamshells
Standard One-Piece, Two Piece Clamshells, Bi-fold, Mock Clamshell
Clamshell Packaging generally consists of a hinged piece of formed plastic and offers the most protection for heavy or expensive retail packages. This option can also be designed as recyclable and reusable.
Single blister with a frame formed normally about ¼” depth to allow heat seal card to be sealed inside blister. Looks like a clamshell for about 1/3 less cost. Provides rigidity to protect the backer card.
A custom thermoformed package that is typically designed with 2 halves connected by a hinge. These packages can be designed with a hang hole or with a “foot”, for a stand-alone option. This is also an option for companies who have heavy or expensive retail items that require tamper resistant or tamper proof protection. There are a variety of features that can be included such as a perimeter snap, button snaps, crush buttons for security, sonic or RF welding for security etc.
A custom thermoformed package that is typically designed as 2 distinct halves not connected. These packages can be designed with a hang hole or with a “foot”, for a stand-alone option. This is also an option for companies who have heavy or expensive retail items that require tamper resistant or tamper proof protection. There are a variety of features that can be included such as a perimeter snap, sonic or RF welding for security etc.
A custom thermoformed package that is typically designed with 3 sections connected by two hinges (Folding twice hence bi-fold). These packages can naturally stand on their own or they can be designed with a hang hole for retailer versatility. There are a variety of features that can be included such as a perimeter snap, button snaps, crush buttons for security, sonic or RF welding for security etc.
Extra Features
Hang Hole, Blister Foot, Gauge, Color
These additional features can be combined with any blister, clamshell or tray. Hang holes and blister feet give flexibility in retail packaging.
Most every blister card or clamshell has a die cut hang hole (sometimes called a sombrero). This is required by most retailers. This allows the package to hang on a hook or peg at the store. The hang hole can be cut leaving the slug or can be cut and cleared removing the slug. The latter is more costly, but some retailers prefer it as the slug sometimes litters aisles.
This is a protrusion of plastic specifically designed at the base of a rigid blister or clamshell that allows the final package to stand vertically on a store shelf. Blisters designed with a foot would still have a blister card.
